EASTENDERS boss have teased a MASSIVE rooftop stunt as Gray Atkins tries to escape from the police.
The lawyer – who is played by Toby Alexander on the BBC One soap – will finally get his comeuppance as in an epic showdown.
The serial killer – who murdered his wife Chantelle, Kush Kazemi and Tina Carter – will try to evade capture by hiding out on the rooftop.
The soap has moved to a brand “new” set, with the first scenes involving a panicked Gray’s attempt to escape the police when they flood the Square.
It involved a sequence of a week’s worth of night shooting, which sees Toby do his own stunts, including climbing up scaffolding, running around The Queen Vic roof and over the bridge.
It was revealed the scene took longer to shoot as they adjusted to new ways of filming on the brand new set.
The actor said: “So, Gray’s comeuppance I think has been on the agenda for quite a while and I think we’ve all been waiting for it including myself.
“So it is nice to be shooting these final scenes and it feels pretty epic and I feel like he’s going out in pretty spectacular fashion.”
He continued: “I’m hoping to do as many of the stunts as I can…obviously it’s very cold and it’s very dark, so we do have to be quite careful.
“But there is a lot of climbing up scaffolding, running across rooftops, Vic roofs and the bridge.”
Toby also teased that the stunts are so elaborate that they have stunt doubles on hand.
“A lot of stuff with Shona who is also quite up for doing it herself…but we do have stunt doubles on had just because we do have to do it several times and it is very cold,” he explained.
“So we have to be quite sensible but it is a lot of fun.”
Shona McCarty – who plays Whitney Dean – is also heavily involved in Gray’s final scenes.
The actress, who has been on the soap for 14 years, said she “can’t contain her excitement” at Gray’s imminent demise.
“As a viewer myself, we all want Gray to get his comeuppance,” Shona said.
“And tonight’s the night, I’m actually so excited I can’t contain it.”
Speaking about the new set, the actress said she’s thrilled to be shooting on the brand new Lot – and said she felt “priveledged” to be working on the popular East End soap .
She continued: “So it’s really, really fantastic to be filming on the new Lot.
“I will say it’s very strange because just behind me here, there’s like another street. It’s just strange, when you come onto set it feels exactly the same but everything is sort of more wider.
“You can drive a car through which is really cool. They’ve done a brilliant job where they’ve made it look old.”
She added: “It’s a new beginning for EastEnders and for me, I’ve been here for 14 years and it’s just another milestone and it’s just a real privilege to be working here.”
Recent episodes of the BBC One soap have shown that Gray had disposed of Tina’s corpse in the Argee Bhajee, where it was eventually found when Tommy Moon was running for safety from his bullies.
But as the police flood the borough, more and more people are coming out of the woodwork seeking revenge from Gray, while all of his secrets unravel.
