Vicki will portray Jo Cotton, wife to Rocky Cotton, who is played by Brian Conley.
Dressed in a sharp, red suit blazer Vicki, 72, posed for cast photos on set.
She said: “I’m so excited to be in EastEnders and everyone has been so lovely.
“Jo Cotton is a great character and it is such a great story. I can’t wait for the audience to meet her.”
Bosses at the BBC1 soap say Jo and Rocky married over 25 years ago but little else is known of their backstory.
Executive producer Chris Clenshaw said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Vicki to the EastEnders family.
“Vicki is the perfect fit to take on the elusive character of Rocky’s wife that we know very little about.
“Brash, quick-witted, and extremely glamorous, Jo is akin to her long-lost husband, Rocky and as you would expect she is immediately thrown into the heart of the drama when she arrives in Walford.”
Vicki has begun filming and will appear on screen in two episodes next month.
It comes after the soap this week launched its next big whodunit with an explosive ‘flashforward’ scene including big stars like Letitia Dean and Lacey Turner.
Six of Walford’s most loved matriarchs will be involved in a huge murder mystery.
Gillian Taylforth‘s Kathy Beale – Rocky’s current partner in the Square – is one of the six Albert Square ladies.
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
