EASTENDERS fans are getting tired of the constant plotting against Ian Beale after the Phil Mitchell is back on board to “make him pay”.
Tonight’s episode saw Ian’s wife, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), slowly start to unravel after poisoning her husband on Christmas Day.
She has been playing the long game of trying to bring Ian down after learning he was responsible for the death of her son, Denny.
Ian (Adam Woodyatt) was visibly unwell and his symptoms started to raise eyebrows in Walford.
His concerned mum – Kathy Beale played by Gillian Taylforth – tried to pay a visit to the Old Vic to find out what was going on with Ian.
Not wanting Kathy to figure out her plan, Sharon quickly ushered her husband into the pub to avoid his mum’s scrutiny.
But Kathy rushed home to complain to Phil that she did not buy Sharon’s “concerned wife” routine.
She knew something was wrong and admitted she was determined to get to the bottom of Sharon’s schemes.
Knowing that his ex Sharon wanted Ian dead after hiring him to kill Ian, Phil rushed to the Queen Vic to warn her to back down.
Phil – who was Denny’s adoptive dad – told her to stop trying to poison Ian because she would end up in jail.
But an emotional Sharon did not care about going to prison so long as Ian “paid” for what he did.
Eventually Phil relented from trying to stop Sharon and was suddenly keen to throw his hat back in the ring to kill Ian.
“I can’t forget what he did and I shouldn’t have left you alone to deal with this,” he told Sharon.
“And we’re gonna make him pay, Sharon we’re gonna make him pay. Together.”
Fans were shocked at Phil’s change of heart, but also admitted feeling tired of the scheming against Ian.
They called for the plot to move on or for them to just ‘get the job done’.
One Twitter user wrote: “Oh come on, Sharon – just get on with it.”
Another added: “Is it me or has this storyline been going on forever?
A third said: “I hope they pop Ian’s clogs soon, this has been going round in circles.”
