RAGING EastEnders fans have been left demanding an apology after the soap ‘forgot’ to ever conclude one of last year’s most dramatic storylines.
Long-time fans of the show have been left questioning why the BBC appears to have swept one of Jean Slater’s (Gillian Wright) stories under the rug.
Fans have hit out at Jean’s forgotten story
Tommy was threatened by Jean
The popular character has had her fair share of dealings on Albert Square over the years and has remained much-loved despite her ups and downs.
However, fans were left in disgust during her behaviour toward Kat’s son Tommy Moon last year when he discovered that Jean had been robbing from Kat.
During the episodes, screening in Spring last year, Jean threatened to put Tommy in care after he realised she stole Kat’s money.
Viewers know she stole cash from Kat’s business to fund her own holiday and dates with Harvey Monroe.
Kat is convinced her son Tommy took the money and Jean has allowed that to happen.
But as Eve asked Jean where she was getting all her money from to pay for her new clothes and expensive trips, Tommy eventually realised the truth.
“It was you, wasn’t it?” he said, adding: “You stole her money.”
“What a ridiculous thing to say,” Jean replied.
She then said to him: “You can add lying now to your very very long list of wrong doings.
“So you’re now going to let her know you’re a fibber as well as a thief. You’ve already been caught with the cash box.
“You know they’ll probably take you into care. Or throw you into prison with Phil.”
Darkening, Jean told Tommy: “You know what your mother needs right now with Phil inside is for you to put your big boy pants on and pull your finger out.
“And stop throwing around ridiculous accusations.”
However, the story appeared to be forgotten about with Kat and the rest of the Slater clan seemingly failing to discover the truth about Jean’s theifing.
It has prompted questions from fans over the illusive ending.
One viewer recently asked: “Was Jean stealing the money from Kat’s business and letting Tommy take the blame for it ever addressed?”
Someone clarified: “Nope. As far as Kat and everyone else is concerned, Tommy stole the money.”
A third said more harshly: “In the CC era, this forgotten storyline, has always annoyed me. Can’t believe that they all seem to be happy to carry on believing that a young boy stole the money, and nobody has corrected it.
“Also, Jean was actually really quite cruel to Tommy at that time. Bi-polar or not, it should have been resolved.”
While a fourth added: “How she treated the kids was uncalled for and unforgivable. Bipolar isn’t an excuse to have how she treated them swept aside.
“She has a lot of making up to do for Tommy as it just got swept under the rug. She still should be pulled up on it once she was better for the kids sake!”
It remains to be seen if the London based soap will ever address Jean’s wrongdoings.
