EASTENDERS fans have been left in tears after Mick Carter finally realised Katy Lewis had abused him – as his son Lee made a shock return to stop him taking his own life.
The former Queen Vic landlord – who is played by actor Danny Dyer in the BBC soap – was driven to breaking point by the memories of the abuse he suffered at the hands of the carer as a child.
In tonight’s episode Mick and Linda visited their son Lee to tell him about their split – but Lee noticed something was wrong with his dad.
And when later Mick decided to take his own life, a phone call to the Samaritans and flashbacks of Lee trying to help him managed to pull him back.
As Mick prepared to take his own life from the roof of the pub, a flashback of Lee begging him to talk came to Mick.
Lee told him: “Dad, you haven’t got anything to be sorry for. What’s going on?
“Listen to me, you need to talk to mum and you need to tell her the truth about how you’re feeling. How you’re really feeling.
“Talk to her properly before it’s too late. Or talk to me, talk to me now. I’m here now, I’m your son and I love you.
“You need to talk to someone because you don’t look right. I should know, I’ve been there and I know exactly what it looks like and I know where it leads. Dad talk to someone, please.”
And as the counsellor spoke to Mick, he found the strength to open up about what had happened to him.
He told how Katy had manipulated him into being kept apart from other kids, and kept him from making friends.
And he realised how she was still manipulating him to keep her own sick secrets.
Mick told the man: “She’s the one who told me to leave Linda and let her go.
“I’ve got memories, I’ve got a photo. I was only little, I was only 12. I was just a child.
“She abused me. I’m her victim and she’s been covering it up ever since.”
The scenes left viewers in floods of tears.
