But Kat made a shocking decision in EastEnders scenes aired last night
Viewers were shocked when, despite her kidnapping horror, Kat (played by Jessie Wallace) chose to stand by the Walford tough man.
Earlier this week, the owner of Kat’s Cabs was kidnapped with her son Tommy by masked men and kept in a desolate warehouse by DCI Samantha Keeble.
The corrupt copper was taking her feud with Phil to another level but she was shot in the process when Kat and Tommy were finally rescued.
Despite narrowly escaping death and even after a heart-to-heart with her former husband Alfie (Shane Richie), Kat chose a life of crime with Phil.
This meant shutting the door on any hope of rekindling her romance with Alfie for good.
But for BBC One viewers, romance could still be in the cards for Alfie.
One of them took to a Digital Spy forum and speculated he’ll move on with another VERY familiar face in the Square.
“Anyone else so very glad they’re keeping Kat and Phil together?”, the soap fan penned.
They then added: “This is very definitely the way forward! Alfie and Linda are a must too!”
Many forum users are happy to see Alfie finally let go of Kat.
“I am also pleased that Alfie has let it go at last. That ship sailed a long time ago and he was almost stalking her at one point”, one viewer added.
Some viewers deemed that Kat and Phil shouldn’t be together at all.
“Kat should of left Phil months ago, it’s ridiculous”, another fan commented as a viewer agreed: “It’s ridiculous that Phil always wins – this was the perfect opportunity for him to end up with nothing.”
One forum commenter fumed: “Kat is completely deluded, irresponsible and honestly being an awful mother. She has seen first hand the danger that being with Phil can put her kids in.”
However, this wouldn’t be the first time EastEnders fans speak about Alfie possibly finding love in the form of Linda Carter.
But in their eyes, it could be too soon for the Vic landlady.
Linda is mourning the loss of her estranged husband Mick Carter, who disappeared at sea on Christmas Day.
Months prior, Linda and Alfie shared a few scenes together and showed a hint of chemistry as they prepared for Halloween.
Off-screen, actress Kellie Bright teased a “brand new chapter” for her character as Linda learns to cope without her childhood sweetheart Mick.
Could Alfie be a part of her future?
