EASTENDERS star Jake Wood marked his final scenes on the show with an emotional video walking around the iconic Albert Square.
It was revealed in September that the actor, who has played the businessman in the BBC One soap since 2006, was leaving the show in an explosive storyline.
Last month the soap star shared that he had just three weeks left of filming before Max says goodbye to the Walford.
And unfortunately for fans of the show, the day has finally come.
Jake took to Instagram to share his final moments with a video of him walking around the iconic set.
He told his 115k followers: “Morning everyone, how are we all? Hope you’re well. It’s a wet and grey day, bit of a strange day for me this on set last day of filming EastEnders after 15 years playing Max Branning.
“I’ll miss the place. The people really for me. I’ve met some amazing people, made some amazing friends and just had an incredible life changing experience.
“So yeah there we go, thank you to everyone for all your messages of support and love, I really appreciated all of that.
“Who knows what the future brings but today we saw goodbye to Max Branning, it’s a sad day but just wanted to share this with you.”
He captioned the post: “That’s a wrap.
“After 15 years on Albert Square it’s finally time to say goodbye to Max Branning today.
“I will miss Eastenders and the people here so much. Thanks to everyone for all your support
.”
Many of his co-stars flocked to the comments section to share their love.
Priya Davdra, who plays Iqra Ahmed on the show, simply wrote: “
.”
Bernadette Taylor actress Clair Norris commented: “Legend!!”
And even Corrie actor Jack P Shepherd wrote: “Shall be very much missed.”
Fans of the soap couldn’t get over the news and made sure to send their love too.
One wrote: “No Max. My heart can’t take it
.”
Another said: “Good luck fella you’ve been brilliant
.”
A third chimed in: “I will miss you
.“
A fourth added: “A true icon on Albert Square!”
Jake first joined the soap as Max in 2006 and he later took a break in 2015 when the businessman was sent to prison in the soap.
Fans have tried to guess how the Walford favourite will be driven out of town, with many thinking it has something to do with Ian Beale.
It’s not all bad news though, as Jake previously revealed that his character wouldn’t be killed off.
He explained: “I have loved playing Max Branning who amongst other things in that time has had 4 marriages, 10 affairs, 4 children (2 dying from falling from the roof of The Queen Vic), been buried alive, watched unwanted DVDs at Xmas and perhaps most traumatising of all…shared a hot tub with Ian Beale.
“I have made some truly great friends whilst on the show and I’ll miss everyone there. I’m grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what new horizons are around the corner.”
