EASTENDERS’ Jill Halfpenny is going to front gritty new thriller The Holiday – which is all about a deadly love triangle.
The actress, 45, will star as Kate alongside Owen McDonnell (Killing Eve), who will play her husband Sean.
The story follows Jill’s character whose dream holiday turns into a nightmare when she finds out her husband is having an affair with one of her best friends.
However, she doesn’t know which of her best friends has committed the affair – and all four are on holiday with her.
But things take a deadly turn as Kate gets closer to the truth, as someone is willing to kill to keep their secrets hidden.
Jill will be joined by Lara McDonnell, who plays their teenage daughter Lucy.
The best friends include Jenny (Liv Mjones), Rowan (Siobhan Hewlett) and Izzy (Cat Simmons).
Jill Halfpenny said of the role: “T.M. Logan’s novel, The Holiday, was such a joy to bring to life and filming with such a talented cast was just fantastic!
“Portraying Kate’s dream holiday turn into a nightmare was great fun and hopefully the fans of the book, and those who have yet to discover it, will enjoy the rollercoaster journey we take you on with this gripping thriller.”
The Holiday – a Richard and Judy Book Club thriller – spent ten weeks on the Sunday Times’ top ten bestsellers’ list in 2019.
The show will be split into four 60 minute episodes airing on Channel 5 later this year.
Jill is famous for playing Izzie Redpath in Waterloo Road and Kate Mitchell in EastEnders.
She was also recently in Channel 5’s The Drowning as grieving mother Jodie.
