EASTENDERS’ Karen Taylor will bear the brunt of the backlash in Walford tonight after her son in law Gray Atkins was finally caught last week.
The serial killer – who is played by actor Toby-Alexander Smith in the BBC soap – was arrested after finally confessing to the murders of Chantelle, Tina Carter and Kush Kazemi.
But tonight Walford will shun Karen – despite the fact her daughter was murdered by Gray.
Last week Gray’s wife Chelsea confronted him over Chantelle’s death but he caught her on the phone to 999.
A brutal fight ensued but she survived – and he fled into the Square and ran to Karen Taylor’s house to get his kids to flee.
But she questioned him about Chantelle and realised he had murdered her.
Arming herself with a baseball bat, she faced off against Gray and kept him away from the children.
After finally admitting the truth of what really happened with Chantelle to a horrified Karen he tried to take his kids.
But they ran to their grandma who faced him down.
She hurled an ashtray through the window and screamed for help, forcing Gray to leave.
He fled through the Square, trying to get into the Vic to avoid the police.
However unfortunately for him he came face to face with Shirley Carter – and she beat him into the ground.
Punching, kicking and smashing a bottle over his head, Gray was injured – and then she broke a bar stool over his back as he tried to escape.
Mick arrived and joined in giving Gray a kicking but when he was on the floor Shirley put a stool leg onto his neck and began to kill him.

“I can’t have you banged up for 20 years,” he said as he pulled Shirley off Gray.
“I’ve already lost Tina, I won’t lose you as well.”
But the distraction gave Gray the distraction and he used the stool to knock Shirley out and leave her bleeding on the floor.
He escaped but ran into Whitney – who screamed for the police but no-one came so she followed him up onto the rooftops herself.
“There’s nowhere to go Gray, just give yourself up,” she said as she caught up with him.
“You’re going to go to prison for Chantelle, for Tina and everyone is going to know what you’re really like.”
Trying to get him to jump off the bridge, Whitney taunted him – and when it worked she grabbed him to stop him.
“Let me go, consider it payback for Kush,” he said.
“I pushed him onto that train. We had a nice chat and then he turned his back and I pushed him.
“I did it for you. I did it to watch him die and now you can watch me die.”
But before she could let go Mitch appeared and hauled Gray over the bridge and handed him over to the police.
Gray was led through the Square with everyone watching and as he was put into the car, a watching Karen Taylor cracked.
She dropped to her knees and wailed in anguish leaving viewers stunned.
