EastEnders spoilers: Gray Atkins terrified as murdered wife Chantelle contacts him

AS of yet, Gray Atkins has escaped justice for his crimes which include the murder of his first wife.

However, the late Chantelle Atkins makes a chilling return in an upcoming EastEnders instalment.

After years of domestic abuse, Chantelle (portrayed by actress Jessica Plummer) met a sad demise in September, 2020, when her husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) killed her during a heated argument.

Chantelle was prepared to leave the lawyer with their two kids, fed up with his violent outbursts, when she was caught by the villain.

Gray pushed Chantelle in a rage and made her fall onto an upturned knife in the dishwasher.

In an ironic twist, Chantelle’s death occurred weeks after he had reminded her that cutlery should always be turned upright in the dishwasher to be properly cleaned.

Knowing he would be blamed, Gray staged Chantelle’s death as a tragic home accident, claiming she had slipped on one of their children’s toys.

Since then, Gray as dodged justice despite him killing Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) who learned the truth.

But in scenes due to air next week on BBC One, Gray gets a message from beyond the grave.

Gray’s heart drops when an email from “Chantelle” reaches him and the emails just keep coming.

Overwhelmed, Gray confides in business partner Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), stating that someone is trolling him.

While the former convict suggests that he ignores the emails, Gray is determined to unmask his tormentor, which leads him to open up to Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol).

As he heads off to bed, Gray receives another message and opens his front door to an alarming discovery.

Little does he know that the emails come from Kheerat.

The businessman has been on to Gray along with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), convinced that he is responsible for Chantelle’s death.

Prior to her death, Chantelle was romantically involved with Kheerat but their love story was tragically cut short.

Whitney, on the other hand, found evidence that Gray was abusive towards Chantelle in the form of a forum where the hairdresser wrote about the abuse she was a victim to within her home.

Nurse Lennon is also a witness to the violent cycle Chantelle was thrown into as she once saw bruises on her body during a trip to A&E.

Whitney and Kheerat have since being set on exposing Gray and helping his second wife Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) escape the marriage alongside her son Jordan.

But will Kheerat’s ploy bring the necessary evidence to throw Gray behind bars?

Is comeuppance near for the serial killer?
