The Mitchell clan has been trying to expand its empire through Walford notably by buying local nightclub Ruby’s.

Phil Mitchell (portrayed by Steve McFadden) has let his sister Sam (played by Kim Medcalf) take care of business while he remains in prison.

This led to Sam pressuring Denise Fox into giving her the money to buy the club.

But while she managed the transaction, renaming the club Peggy’s as a tribute to their late mother, Sam is set to get a nasty shock from Phil next week, and it also involves Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

Coming up, Phil gets a visit from his partner Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) who has a suggestion for Peggy’s.

Meanwhile, things are off for a bad start for Sam as she takes over the club.

In a shocking twist, she first fires Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) and riles his girlfriend Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero).

Dotty soon tries to get her own back but is pushed out of the door as well.

Later on, Sam pays Phil a visit to fill him in but he can instantly tell that she has an ulterior motive.

The Albert Square tough guy then drops a bombshell on his sister, making it clear he will trust his former wife Sharon Watts more than her.

This comes as a shock for Sam as she has a long-running feud with Sharon.

In later scenes at Peggy’s, Sam winds up Sharon about having an emotional affair with Phil behind Kat’s back.

Sam threatens to tell Kat the truth but Sharon warns her that she will be the one worse off.

Phil turned to Sharon for his business when it became clear that neither Ben nor Kat were ready to take on the weight of his empire.

The pair were married for six years from 2014 to 2020 and have remained close despite their separation.

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
