Actress Natalie Cassidy Opens Up About Balancing Work and Family

EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has revealed that she occasionally hires a nanny to look after her children on her days off to carve out some much-needed "me time." The 41-year-old actress, known for her role as Sonia Fowler on the popular BBC soap, shares two children with her fiancé Marc Humphreys.

Mum Guilt and 'Me Time'

Cassidy, who first appeared as Sonia in December 1993, shares daughter Joanie, aged seven, with Marc and is also a mother to 12-year-old Eliza from a previous relationship. Despite her demanding filming schedule and family commitments, she acknowledges the importance of self-care and tackling "mum guilt."

Keeping It Real

In a recent podcast episode, Cassidy admitted, "I love time to myself, I love having a nap, I don't feel guilty. There are some days when I've got extra hours for my nanny. If I've got a day when I could be at home, I will book my nanny in and I will go to an art gallery, or I will do something on my own, or see someone."

Family Life Behind the Scenes

While Cassidy usually keeps her children out of the spotlight, she occasionally shares glimpses of her home life with fans. In a tender video, she showed moments with daughter Joanie, highlighting the balancing act between her soap opera role and motherhood.

Candid Revelations

Revealing a more humorous side, Cassidy shared how her youngest daughter, Joanie, isn't a fan of her on-screen character Sonia. In an interview, Cassidy mentioned, "She'll go, 'Mummy... Sonia's so boring. I just don't like watching you on here, honestly I just don't like it.'"

Despite Joanie's candid feedback, Cassidy remains unfazed, adding, "She says, 'Well, I'm not one of them.' She actually fast forwards my bits, but I don't know if that's because I'm her mum or that's just her take on Sonia."
