Ben Champniss, who plays the market stall trader known as Shrimpy, joined EastEnders in 2014. Despite starting as an unnamed extra, his character has become a fan favorite thanks to his trademark hat and unique style.
Throughout his time on the show, Shrimpy has been a consistent presence in the background, often seen interacting with main characters like Martin Fowler and Whitney Dean.
Clarification on Future
Despite never having a major storyline of his own, fans have grown fond of Shrimpy and have expressed concerns about his future on the show. Addressing these worries, Ben Champniss has confirmed that he has no plans to leave EastEnders and will continue to be part of the Walford community.
In a recent social media post celebrating his 10-year anniversary on the show, Ben reassured fans by stating, "Absolutely not!!" in response to a query about his departure.

Outside of EastEnders, Ben Champniss has also appeared in the Harry Potter films and welcomed a baby boy with his wife Georgia in 2021. His portrayal of Shrimpy, with his iconic hat and mod hairdo, has set him apart from other background artists on the soap.
