EastEnders star Cliff Parisi reveals he had his appendix removed after faking illness

EASTENDERS star Cliff Parisi was forced to have his appendix removed after faking a stomach ache.

The London-born star said he had tried to bunk off school and he did such a good job of pretending to be sick that his worried mum immediately called an ambulance.

Cliff, 61, told presenter Alan Titshmarsh on ITV’s Spring Into Summer: “It was my first ever acting role and I went over the top as usual.

“I did my school in the morning and I didn’t want to go back in the afternoon because I’d come home for lunch, you see. And it was autumn and there was loads of crispy leaves and frost and I didn’t wanna go through that in my shorts again.

“I pretended I had a stomach ache, my mother ran out of the house and went to the phone box which was quite a long way away to phone an ambulance because I’d gone way over the top.”

Cliff didn’t have a chance to tell his mum he had lied – because the ambulance turned up before she got home.

The Call The Midwife star added: “I was taken off for my appendix to be removed. There was nothing wrong with me at all.”

After listening to his story, a stunned Alan replied: “Good acting though! Stood you in good stead.”

And Cliff quipped: ‘Yeah, I never did that again though.”

Cliff is best known for playing mechanic Minty Peterson in Albert Square.
