Davood’s fans were delighted that he made a special appearance in Casualty as Eli Ebrahimi last week.
His last appearance on-screen was nearly 18 months ago as part of the Holby City series finale.
The actor was left “gutted” when it was announced the BBC show was to be cancelled after 23 years on screen and just as he joined the cast.
The special instalment of Casualty aired on July 15 and viewers saw Eli treat someone involved in a terrible road incident.
In a statement, executive producer Jon Sen explained : “To mark the 75th anniversary we wanted to shine a light on the awe-inspiring work of the doctors, nurses and paramedics who work in the NHS.
“The episode tells a powerful story that dramatises the skill and immense team-work that goes into helping one patient, Amartya, as he fights for his life.
“We were thrilled when real medical professionals agreed to be interviewed to offer an insight into the highs and lows of dealing with these cases on a daily basis.”
He added: “In this one-off episode the audience gains a truly authentic glimpse behind the curtain to understand what it feels like to stand in the shoes of NHS professionals.”
Davood is also known for his role as Kush Kazemi on EastEnders, for which he played for seven years.
He took on the part of the beloved market trader on the London based soap in 2014, but the character was killed by villain Gray Atkins in 2021.
