Kim Medcalf, who played Sam Mitchell on EastEnders, has finally been spotted after disappearing from the soap, leaving fans worried that she may never return.
A Familiar Face on Albert Square
Kim has been a part of the BBC soap since 2002, taking breaks in between. She most recently appeared on the show in 2022 before her sudden departure earlier this year.
Sam's Exit
In her character Sam's storyline, she bid farewell to Albert Square and headed to Spain to manage a luxurious new bar in a hotel.
However, she later contacted Jack Branning and informed him that she would be staying at the hotel until at least the end of the summer, as it was experiencing an influx of guests.
Fears of a Permanent Departure
Sam's extended absence from the show has left fans worried about her potential return to Walford. To their delight, a new photo of Kim was shared, capturing her out and about in London.
The photo was taken by a black cab driver, who managed to get Kim to pose for a selfie. In the picture, she can be seen smiling while wearing a white top with colorful detailing and her blonde hair flowing loosely around her shoulders.
Samxiety on Fan Forums
The photo was shared on an EastEnders fan forum, with one fan jokingly referring to their anxiety as "Samxiety." Others expressed their longing for Sam's character to return and their appreciation for Kim's portrayal.
One fan wrote, "If I had picked her up in a taxi, I would have locked the doors and driven her straight back into Elstree." Another fan mentioned the missed opportunity to explore Sam's relationship with Ricky and their desire to see her find happiness.
Anticipation for Sam's Return
Many fans admitted that they were not enjoying the show as much without Sam's presence and expressed their hope that she would come back soon. They praised Kim for bringing warmth and depth to the character of Sam and believed her return would be a welcome antidote to the recent departure of another character, Karen.
