Soap Shake-Up
EastEnders actress Lorraine Stanley, known for her role as Karen Taylor, has announced that she is heading to Hollywood following her departure from the long-running BBC soap opera. The news of her exit was first revealed in July, when it was reported that the show's producers were implementing a cast reshuffle.
Looking Ahead
Having been a part of EastEnders since 2017, Lorraine expressed her initial shock at the decision to write her character out of the show. However, she has now embraced the opportunity and has unveiled her plans for the future.
Excitement Builds
Earlier this month, Lorraine took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to share her excitement about the suspension of the American actor's union SAG-AFTRA strike. Alongside a picture announcing the strike's end, she wrote, "Making history! can't wait to get back out there!" Fans quickly responded with anticipation, speculating that this could mean a move to the United States.
A Bittersweet Farewell
Lorraine recently broke her silence about her upcoming departure from EastEnders. In an interview with The Celeb Report Online, she expressed her sadness about leaving Albert Square but also acknowledged that it presents new opportunities for her career. Reflecting on the moment she received the phone call informing her of the decision, Lorraine shared, "I was sad, it was a mix of emotions, it's sad but it's exciting as now I can go and do what I want. You can get a bit relaxed there and a bit comfortable. So I want to be out of my comfort zone."
EastEnders can be seen on BBC One and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
