EastEnders star posts desperate plea to fans as social media accounts hacked in sick scam

AN EASTENDERS star has posted a desperate plea to fans as his Instagram account has been hacked.

Scott Maslen has been forced to warn his fans not to interact with the social media profile after it was compromised.

The actor, who plays the role of cop Jack Branning in the BBC One soap, is being impersonated by hackers.

The sick scam is urging his 119,000 followers to invest in bitcoin and promising a huge windfall in their investments.

In one Instagram story, the con artist updated their home lock screen with a picture of Scott, 52, and his wife Estelle to make it even more convincing that it was him.

Desperate to ensure his fans aren’t scammed, Scott pleaded with them not to respond to any messages they receive.

He said: “My instagram account has been hacked so please don’t respond. I’m trying to solve the problem thanks Scott.”

Fans flooded the comments section with replies, with many telling Scott how they already suspected he had been hacked.

One said: “I had a feeling that it had been when I saw your Instagram stories earlier. Hope you get it sorted soon.”

A second wrote: “Knew it wasn’t you!, I’ve reported it, hope it gets sorted.”

“I knew it’s was hacked when the money posts was posted,” said a third.

While a fourth commented: “Thanks for confirming. I was trying to call the person impersonating you just to prove.”

Scott recently left EastEnders fans stunned with his rarely seen son that looks just like him.

The proud dad visited his grown-up son in the Spanish city of Barcelona, where he currently lives.

The pair splashed out on new outfits, and obviously have very similar sartorial taste.
