Despite the regular airings of both Emmerdale and Corrie tonight, the Rugby World Cup coverage starting on Friday (September 8) promises more chaos for soap fans. Friday's episode of Coronation Street has been moved to Thursday and will air from 9pm until 10pm, after the watershed.

Adding to the frustration, Emmerdale's usual hour-long Thursday installment has also been scrapped. Soap viewers will be left without both Emmerdale and Coronation Street on Friday evening.

The Rugby World Cup Shake-up

ITV will be airing live coverage of the Rugby World Cup starting this Friday, with a game between France and New Zealand. Normal soap programming will resume on Monday (September 11), but the Rugby World Cup will disrupt schedules once again later in the week.

A New Schedule for the Rugby World Cup

From Thursday, September 14, matches will be aired regularly. The first game will be between France and Uruguay at 7.15pm. On Friday, September 15, there will be another game between New Zealand and Namibia in the same time slot.

Frequent TV Shake-ups

This is not the first time that ITV has caused disruption for Emmerdale and Coronation Street viewers. Recent months have seen frequent changes to the schedule, forcing fans to adapt at the last minute.

Emmerdale is typically aired weeknights at 7.30pm for a half-hour episode, with an hour-long installment every Thursday. Meanwhile, Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8pm.
