With her mother Kay Mellor also in the acting trade – Kay also wrote The Syndicate – Gaynor has had no luck putting off her kids from joining in.
Gaynor, who is mum to Lily, 17, and Oliver, 19, explained: “My daughter, Lily, is at drama school studying musical theatre and my son, Oliver, is a budding actor, director and writer.
“I’m very proud of them.
‘As a mum, you want security for your children, so I encouraged them to find ‘sensible’ professions.”
She added: “I kept saying, ‘How about becoming a doctor? It’s very dramatic in A&E.
“Acting is such a difficult career and I wanted them to pursue something with stability and longevity.”
In a recent chat with Fabulous, Gaynor revealed an unlikely celebrity crush.
She confessed: “Merlin from First Dates.
“I recently found out that he has a bar, so I might have to go!”

“We’ll have a big chat about philosophy and politics and then Tina and RuPaul will get the party started.”
