EMMERDALE bosses have confirmed whether Robert Sugden is returning to the soap or not.
The ITV soap sparked speculation the popular character would be making a comeback after revealing a way he could be freed from his life prison sentence.

Viewers watched last week as Luke Posner confessed to knocking his brother Lee unconscious the same day as Robert struck him with a shovel.
Rapist Lee later died from a bleed on the brain, caused it was thought by Robert’s blow.
He later plead guilty to murder and was sentenced to a minimum term of 14 years.
But with Luke’s confession, it now looks like the door is open to freeing Robert and bringing him back to the village.

And fans are desperately clinging to the news that he could return.
However the soap has now quashed fans’ hopes that Robert is set for a comeback.
A spokeswoman told DS: “There are no current plans for the character of Robert to return.”
The Celeb Report exclusively revealed how actor Ryan Hawley had quit the soap before his on-screen exit followed in 2019.
But since leaving he hasn’t had much success career-wise but has celebrated becoming a father.
