Emmerdale, Coronation Street AND EastEnders all air two episodes tonight over schedule chaos

SOAP fans were fuming after their favourite shows were cancelled amid a huge schedule shake-up.

The chaos has led Corrie, EastEnders AND Emmerdale to air two episodes tonight.

Soap fans have been left in disbelief over the schedule shake-ups

The FA Cup has taken centre stage in TV schedules

As the FA Cup is well underway, soaps have been the first impacted.

Airing weeknights at 7pm on ITV, Emmerdale has actually been shelved on Tuesday to make way for football as Peterborough United took on Manchester City.

Over on BBC One, EastEnders was also put to the side as coverage for another match – Middlesborough vs Tottenham Hotspur – was aired at 7:35pm with the match kicking off 25 minutes later.

While it remained unaffected on Tuesday, Coronation Street was scrapped later on.

The Weatherfield drama was cancelled to accommodate for the coverage of FA Cup match Liverpool vs Norwich.

With the footy taking priority in all TV schedules, soap bosses have decided that tonight (March 4, 2022) would be the ideal occasion to make it up to disappointed viewers.

BBC One will be airing a first episode of EastEnders at 8pm, which will be followed up with a second instalment at 8:30pm before making way for the comedy show Would I Lie to You?

ITV will be following suit with an hour-long instalment of Emmerdale, followed by another hour of Coronation Street.

Viewers will also be able to catch up with the cobble drama on Sunday as Corrie will be back for another instalment at 8pm.

Soap viewers have been left frustrated over the recurrent schedule changes but another, bigger shake-up will be taking place as of March 7, 2022.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be airing at new times, giving up their usual slots.

The first show – which will be celebrating its 50th birthday in 2022 – will give up its 7pm air time and be broadcasted instead at 7:30pm, just after international and national news bulletins.

Corrie, on the other hand, will be aired for three hour-long weekly episodes.

The long-running drama will be aired at 8pm for an hour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

This schedule clash has left BBC One in an uncomfortable position.

EastEnders will be airing at 7:30pm from Monday to Thursday and will no longer air on Fridays.
