Viewers left horrified as soap takes a terrifying turn

Backfiring blackmailed plan

Caleb's ordeal came after Nate, played by Jurell Carter, blackmailed him into getting involved in organized crime to make ends meet. However, the plan ultimately backfired when Caleb met up with Harry, played by Robert Beck, and attempted to put an end to the illegal business. In response, Harry resorted to violence, showing Caleb a gun and ordering his heavies to beat him up.

Outraged fans take to social media

Emmerdale fans were quick to voice their displeasure with the violent scenes and the overall direction of the storyline. Many took to Twitter to share their thoughts, with one viewer comparing the show to an episode of 'The Sweeney', a classic British police drama. Another likened the scenes to the torture scene in the film 'Reservoir Dogs'. Several fans commented on how different the current storyline is compared to the show's roots, which centered around farm life.

Nate's secrets and Tracy's betrayal

As the gangster plot unfolded, Nate was forced to come clean to his new wife, Tracy, about his involvement. Nate had been working for Corey, played by Kyle Rowe, but grew increasingly uneasy with the criminal activities. When he discovered illegal guns being transported, Nate vowed to take action. However, his plans went awry when Tracy unexpectedly arrived, and he was forced to hide the weapons in a panic. Tracy, feeling betrayed and concerned for their child's safety, kicked Nate out of their home.

Turning to Cain for help

In desperate need of assistance, Nate sought support from Cain. However, Cain refused to let him stay, citing the consequences Caleb had suffered because of him. Nate was left with nowhere to go, facing the fallout of his actions as the storyline continues to unfold.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
