EMMERDALE fans were left open-mouthed after Lydia Dingle invaded their homes ‘through the screen’ with a sneaky trick last night.
The cleaner – played by Karen Blick in the ITV soap – decided to make a festive treat to eat and asked for help from the Alexa in Home Farm.
With everything she needed out in front of her, Lydia asked the virtual assistant: “Alexa, what are the ingredients for a Christmas cake?”
As the voice service listed out the bits, a shocked Kim Tate returned home to a bit of a mess.
The cleaner said: “Hang on a minute love… I mean Alexa stop.”
Many viewers flocked to Twitter to see if Lydia’s instructions activated their own device at home.
One wrote: “ANYONE ELSES ALEXA JUST SET OFF?”
A second said: “Anyone else’s Alexa waiting expectantly for further instruction?”
A third added: “My Alexa was woken up thanks #emmerdale.”
“Stupid Lydia has set my Alexa off,” a fourth chimed in.

Lydia has been down in the dumps recently after her husband Sam Dingle rejected her after she made the surprise decision to call the police on Liv Flaherty.
On the night of Ben Tucker’s death, the cleaner saw the troubled teen outside the Hawksford Outdoor Pursuits – where the kayak instructor was found dead.
Lydia and Liv found an aggressive voicemail from the alcoholic on Ben’s phone and the alcoholic pleaded with Lydia to keep schtum about it.
However the cleaner decided to go to the police.
But this angered the Dingle family as she went against one of her own and Liv is now in prison for Ben’s murder.
When in fact it was actually evil nurse Meena Jutla who killed him.
Over the past few weeks Lydia has struggled without her husband Sam, but he’s son going to put his best foot forward as he attempts to win her back.
Sam has made it clear that he’s since regretted his harsh behaviour with Lydia.
In an upcoming episode of the ITV soap, Sam puts up a fight for wedded bliss, while a the family campaign to free Liv continues, urged by Mandy to reconcile with Lydia.
Sam comes up with a plan, leaving a Christmas invitation out of her letterbox.
Bemused, Lydia discovers and reads the invitation, unaware that a grinning Sam is watching her in the distance.
Other attempts follow and Sam will even be able to count on Samson’s advice to get Lydia’s forgiveness.
In another determined gesture, Sam will try to win Lydia back by organising the perfect Christmas day for his lady.
But will Lydia really be able to forgive and forget her husband’s actions?
