Steve Halliwell brought Zak Dingle to life in 1994 and made his final appearance on the show in June 2023 due to health issues before his passing in December at the age of 77.

A statement from Halliwell's family described him as an amazing father and grandfather who valued family above all else. The soap plans to give Zak Dingle a "hugely fitting" tribute in the upcoming months.
