AFTER an ill-fated romance with Meena Jutla, David Metcalfe is making the most of his relationship with Victoria Sugden.
Next week in Emmerdale, the owner of David’s Shop makes an important decision and his father Eric Pollard is alarmed.
The chemistry has been building up between David (played by Matthew Wolfenden) and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) and the pair have enjoyed a honeymoon period after Meena Jutla was arrested, charged and incarcerated for her crimes.
In scenes due on ITV, David is convinced he has found the love of his life and, bolstered by Victoria’s encouraging words about their relationship, decides to pop the question.
But while his desire to make things official and propose should be celebrated by more than one villager, his father Eric (Chris Chittell) is wary.
The long-standing Emmerdale resident implores David to take his time and not rush into anything with Victoria.

However, David doesn’t listen and, instead, informs Eric that he will have to cover at the shop as he’s seen the perfect engagement ring at the jewellers in town.
Meanwhile, at the Hop, an unsuspecting Victoria jokes with Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jameson) about what David’s big talk could be about.
Victoria arrives to his romantic surprise in the woods in later scenes and David struggles to contain his excitement.
David gets down on one knee and proposes to a speechless Victoria.
After her relationship with Luke Posner ended, Victoria made herself a priority by remaining single… until she spent the day with David in June, 2021.
Sparks began to fly between them just as David’s romance with Meena Jutla was slowly but surely going south.
The pair shared a kiss but kept their distance.
However, as months passed, David couldn’t stop denying his feelings for Victoria and eventually owned up to them.
This unfortunately led to Meena trying to get revenge on her former boyfriend and his new flame.
Viewers may remember the criminal attempting to drown Victoria during the Hop’s Survival Week – before Andrea Tate became an unwanted witness and Meena had to get rid of her.
But since the villain has been exposed and Meena moved on from David to Billy Fletcher, the pair have seemingly been happier than ever.
