Emmerdale spoilers: Manpreet Sharma gets horrifying shock as she wakes up in hospital after Meena Jutla trauma

FOLLOWING her dramatic escape from the Dales, Emmerdale residents fear Meena Jutla may return to the village.

But when a disoriented Manpreet Sharma wakes up in hospital in an upcoming episode, viewers of the ITV soap are in for a shock.

Rebecca Sarker’s character has gone through hell in the past few weeks.

After being taken hostage by her serial killer sister Meena (Paige Sandhu), the GP managed to free herself from her captivity… only to be run over by her former fiancé, Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin).

Manpreet has since been unconscious and is set to remain under close observation in hospital during this week’s Emmerdale episodes.

However, a police officer is stationed outside of her room as the authorities are confident Meena could return with vengeance on her mind.

Believing he won’t be missed, the officer leaves his spot for a moment during which a bewildered Manpreet wakes up.

Traumatised by her experience as Meena’s hostage, she lets out a scream when she recognises the nurse as her murderous and unhinged sister.

Is Meena back to finish what she started?

Fans of the long-running drama will have to wait before finding out.

Last Thursday’s (January 13, 2022) Emmerdale instalment ended with Meena narrowly escaping justice.

A suspicious Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) caught her attempting to kill Manpreet and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), whom she had also taken as a hostage when he ventured too close to the truth surrounding Ben Tucker’s death in order to save his girlfriend Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) from prison.

Meena was trying to murder both characters by gassing them alive inside a barn she had trapped them in and in which she also attempted to lure former fling Billy Fletcher.

This was after she had admitted her crimes to them.

Liam hit Meena over the head, saving both Manpreet and Minny from a horrifying death, before finding out she murdered his daughter Leanna.

An enraged Liam chased the evil nurse into the forest and while Meena considered making him her fifth victim, she eventually abstained and hitched a lift from a lorry driver as the police were looking for her.

Viewers last saw Meena borrowing Manpreet’s name and making her way to Glasgow – leading viewers to predict a sinister twist for Debbie Dingle, after she moved to Scotland alongside her son in 2019 (and actress Charley Webb announced she has quit Emmerdale after 19 years on the air).

Now knowing that Manpreet and Vinny know her secrets, what does Meena have in store for both characters?

Could she return to the Dales to cut her loose ends?

Speaking to Digital Spy, among other outlets, Emmerdale producer Jane Hudson teased that “Judgement Day for Meena is coming.”

She added: “Whether she will get away with murder or not, you’ll have to wait to find out. There are still some more twists and turns to be had and some you won’t see coming, but I think we’re all agreed that Meena can do pretty much anything.”

The producer however stated that Meena’s comeuppance “won’t play out quite as you expect and it will have a lasting effect on quite a few of our villagers.”

“I think within the next few months Meena will get what’s coming to her.”
