SINCE her return to the Dales, fans believed Vanessa Woodfield would rekindle her relationship with Charity Dingle.
But a newcomer in the ITV soap is set to turn all these plans on their head.
Fans of the long-running show were almost unanimously hoping to see both Vanessa (played by Michelle Hardwick) and Charity (Emma Atkins) give their relationship another try.
The enthusiasm reached its peak when the chemistry between the two almost culminated into a kiss, shortly after Charity’s feuding with Chas over The Woolpack.
However, it doesn’t look like a reconciliation is actually on the cards for the former couple.
In scenes due on our screens next week, Vanessa is caught getting cosy with a new face in the eponymous village.

Vanessa first bumped into a woman called Suzy (played by Martelle Edinborough) and accidentally ruined the cake she was carrying.
Coming up, Vanessa gets to know Suzy a little more during a flirty interaction.
Later on, Vanessa is happy to have secured a dinner with Suzy – but how will Charity relax?
As mentioned above, viewers were hoping to see the pair rekindle their relationship as Charity mentioned she had always wanted to make things up to Vanessa after being unfaithful to her.
Charity has been dropping heavy hints her relationship with Mackenzie Boyd was nothing compared to the one she has had with Vanessa.
Emmerdale fans will perhaps remember that both women were engaged until Charity shared a kiss with Moira Dingle’s brother.
Vanessa was unable to forgive Charity for her betrayal and left the village, before coming back in December, 2021.
The former couple managed to get on but the chemistry was still palpable, notably by Mackenzie who even kissed Dawn Taylor in a moment of drunken insecurity.
And after Charity was unable to fully commit to him, Mackenzie decided to leave the village altogether – giving viewers hope she could kiss and make up with Vanessa.
Will Suzy’s arrival in the village really put an end to all hopes of a reunion between Charity and Vanessa?
