EMMERDALE’S Kelvin Fletcher has taken to Instagram to explain why he didn’t appear in Death in Paradise after months of hype.
The 36-year-old actor was revealed to be taking part in the hit BBC show’s 10th series back in September, when he was pictured flying to the Caribbean for filming alongside fellow guest star Jason Manford.
But after series 10 debuted last night, Kelvin’s fans – as well as his family – were disappointed to see he hadn’t made an appearance.
Taking to Instagram earlier in the day, Kelvin had explained why, saying in a video: “So I’ve had a few phone calls today and a few messages from friends and family, and even quite a few messages on social media from people excited about my debut on Death in Paradise this evening.
“I’m afraid I’m not on tonight. Still watch it, it starts tonight, 9 o’clock, BBC One, the new series of Death in Paradise.”
Kelvin then updated fans on when they would see him on the fictional island of Saint Marie, adding: “A great show, but my episode that I filmed isn’t until about another two or three weeks from now.
“So I’ll be in touch in the next couple of weeks to let you know when that’s on, but I’m not on this evening I’m afraid.”
He continued: “But don’t let that deter you, still tune in anyway.
“Like I say, it’s a great show and I had the most amazing time filming it.”
Back in September, comedian Jason, 39, had shared a snap of him and Kelvin on a plane flying to Guadeloupe, where Death in Paradise is filmed.
Teasing his followers at the time, Jason wrote: “I’m flying with this mystery fella to a mystery destination for @BBCOne . But who is it and where am I going?”
The first episode of series 10 saw former Casualty actor Patrick Robinson guest star as a famous TV anchor on Saint Marie.
Death in Paradise continues on Thursday, January 14 at 9pm on BBC One.
