ESCAPE to the Chateau’s Angel Adoree took a cheeky swipe at her husband Dick Strawbridge as he blasted “disgusting” plans for the chateau.
Dick and Angel returned with another episode of the Channel 4 show on Sunday night, with viewers tuning in to see the couple making more changes to their dream home in France.
However, when the pair had a disagreement about a new renovation project at the chateau, Angel took a swipe at her husband’s age.
The couple began discussing the challenging task of replacing the whole of their 340-square-meter roof.
However, it soon became clear there was one element of the new roof slates that they struggled to agree on.
“You know the slates have to be new,” Dick told his wife.
“So they’re going to be new,” he confirmed, with Angel saying: “I know, I know, yeah.”
Angel explained that having to compromise and work with new roof slates instead of second-hand antique ones was a “big deal” for her.
She explained: “It’s also a bit scary because in a way part of the charm of this place for me is that it is a little bit, it’s a little bit dilapidated.
“But, I will find a way to age them somehow.”
Angel then asked her husband: “Have we got that option at some point to just go up on the cherry picker and just spray yoghurt-y water over them?”
“I think that sounds disgusting,” Dick said, with his wife asking again: “No, but do I?”
Dick continued: “Personally, that’s like having a paddling pool full of icky stuff in it and rolling and why would you do that?”
Angel insisted: “No it’s not! It’s like getting a brand new pair of trainers and…”
“Making them dirty!” Dick exclaimed, interrupting his wife mid-sentence.
“Exactly, a little bit. Just like a tiny little bit worn in,” Angel explained.
Making it clear he wasn’t impressed by his other half’s suggestion, Dick commented: “I like my shoes looking good when they’re new.”
“No. I like them with a little bit of age,” Angel said, patting her husband on the hand.
Dick laughed as he suddenly realised she was making a reference to his own age.
“I try and get that in whenever I can,” Angel teased, adding: “I like them worn a little bit round the edge.”
