ESCAPE to the Chateau’s Angel was left ‘tearful’ after a ‘dire’ reveal from husband Dick Strawbridge.
In the latest episodes of the Channel 4 show, the couple have been getting a new roof on the chateau.
However, the new tiles left Angel feeling like the walls of the property needed updating to match.
But when she suggested to Dick, 62, that they re-render the bricks on the whole chateau, she was shocked at his response.
He asked: “Sorry, sorry, are you taking the mickey? Are you serious?”
Angel, 43, replied: “I think we’ve just never had the conversation.”
She added: “I think there’s such an investment in the scaffolding and at some point in our lifetime, we’re going to want to render the house.
“The front actually is not that bad, but you go round the sides it is in dire states, some of it.”
She then asked her husband: “Are you honestly happy? You can stand back with our beautiful new roof and be happy with the outside not being kind of rendered?”
Dick warned: “You do know it’s a massive job?”
However, the couple did decide to take the challenge on, but Dick admitted he was “scared” as work begun on the huge project.
Angel added: “I feel tearful even thinking about getting it wrong.”
Thankfully, work got off to a successful start which left the couple feeling “relieved”.
