A COUPLE on Escape to the Country were left floored by a ‘haunted’ castle property – that came with a brutal catch.
During a recent episode of the hit BBC One series viewers were introduced to Davina and Peter.
Davina, who is originally from East London, was house-hunting with her ex-partner and friend Peter
In one final surprise, Jules then whisked the couple to see a Grade I castle
Davina, who is originally from East London, was house-hunting with her ex-partner and friend Peter.
The former couple were looking to move to rural Devon so presenter and expert Jules Hudson got to work.
He found them three potential properties, all in line with their budget of £400,000.
Jules brought the pair to a mystery house that was in their budget, priced at £359,950.
It was a cottage.
Although it had been renovated, both Peter and Davina said it was “beautifully done”.
The property featured three bedrooms as well as an open plan kitchen and dinning area.
But in one final surprise, Jules then whisked the couple to see a Grade I castle.
While the abode was clearly out of their budget, a flat within the property wasn’t.
With two bedrooms, it was on the market for £350,000 which left the ex-couple surprised.
However, they were stunned to know that if they did purchase it, they would be slapped with a monthly £1,000
They ultimately decided to pass on the idea of living in a castle, but Davina did say how, when it came to the cottage, she could “move in tomorrow”.
