He said Jamie Lee was a “big fan” of his music

Sam, 32, said he found it “surreal” that he had Hollywood stars as fans – including Freaky Friday Jamie Lee, 63.

The Eurovision star – who came SECOND in a competition this year – said that his pal Jamie had been “supportive since day one”.

“Jamie has been so encouraging since day one, she is so lovely. She is an absolute legend,” Sam told The Daily Star.

“I hope to meet her one day and talk about music. She loves music and she is such an interesting woman.”

“At the beginning it was surreal, the fact that she’s a fan of me will always be surreal,” he went on about his friendship.

“But I remind myself that everyone is just a person. We’re all going to be interested in different artists.”

It comes after Sam vowed to banish the UK’s Eurovision demons and do well in the competition after years of “nul points”.

The Essex-born singer-songwriter became a viral sensation during lockdown when videos of him in action attracted 12million followers on TikTok — and now he is turning his attention to winning over Europe, too.

He was then selected for Eurovision by TAP Management, the management company behind Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding, who helped the BBC choose this year’s entry.

In an exclusive interview, Sam said: “In the UK we become victims of a self-perpetuating and a negative narrative.

“This stigma that we’re not liked . . . my experience has been totally the opposite.

“I really hope that above all else, we carry ourselves with a buzzy energy of positivity going into this.

“Get together with your friends and family, make some food, watch Eurovision and have a blast.

“It’s one night of the year and it’s such a joy.”
