Exasperated Charlie Stayt forced to restart BBC Breakfast after getting Naga Munchetty’s name wrong TWICE

BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt asked producers to re-start the show today after he bungled Naga Munchetty’s name twice.

The 59-year-old news presenter managed to mangle his co-host’s name before letting out a big sigh.

The BBC Breakfast host insisted on restarting the introduction

He said: “Good morning welcome to Breakfast with Naga, Maga… ah, boy.”

With that he sighed, looking torwards the ground as she helpfully chipped in: “Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.”

He then raised his palm and looking beyond the camera, saying: “Can we just start the whole thing again?

“We go right back to the beginning again, all right?”

He then got the intro spot-on, saying: “Good morning welcome to Breakfast with Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt.”

They then continued with the news show, launching into the 9am headlines.

Naga and Charlie are the main presenters of the weekend edition of BBC Breakfast, taking over the show on Thursdays until Sundays.

The pair are famous for not always sticking to the script with Naga telling one of the show’s stars to “get off camera” in the middle of a weather report this week.

Naga cut from London’s Regent Street, saying: “If you wanted a contrast from the busy city to some tranquillity, then let’s go to…”

The shot then went to Matt Taylor standing in Gatton Park, Surrey, for a weather update.

Naga couldn’t help but add a cheeky comment, saying: “Well if Matt stepped out of the camera shot then…”

Matt laughed out loud as he said: “The view would be much better, it would be equally as tranquil!”
