The long-standing TV couple were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on the daytime show – sparking fury from fans.

It followed Ruth’s backstage fallout with Phillip after he cut her off on live TV.

She went on to formally complain to ITV bosses.

As This Morning checked in with Loose Women on today’s show, Ruth made a comment that suggested she wouldn’t rule out a return.

Host Dermot O’Leary said: “Joining Juliet in the kitchen in just a second, but first let’s find out what the Loose Women have…”

Ruth said: “I wish we could be there in that kitchen with all those cakes, they look good.”

“I know, tell me about it,” replied Alison, despite being in the studio within touching distance of the cakes.

On Saturday, Phillip announced he was stepping down from This Morning with immediate effect.

Despite being on the show for 21 years, the 65-year-old wasn’t given a final show send-off.

An ITV spokesperson said: “Phillip Schofield’s decision to step down from This Morning was (as his statement made clear) a decision agreed between Phillip and ITV.”
