Graham is portrayed as a widower in the movie, having lost his wife. He is seen raising his two young daughters, Sophie and Olivia, on his own. However, throughout the film, viewers have noticed that the daughters mysteriously disappear whenever Graham's character becomes involved with Cameron Diaz's character, Amanda.
