FERNE McCann told The Celeb Report that she moved her best friend in to “help relieve the pressure” of living with boyfriend Jack Padgett before their shock split.
We exclusively revealed today that the pair had called time on their romance because they are at “different stages in their lives”.
And the 30-year old star previously opened up about living with the model and marketing manager during lockdown – admitting that she used the time to “figure out what’s important”.
She told us that she moved Jack in at the same time as her best friend Carl ahead of the UK’s third national lockdown at the start of the year.
Ferne explained: “Every lockdown I had a completely different experience; the first one I lived with my mum, second was a bit of a blur that I can’t really remember, and then the third one my best friend and my boyfriend moved into mine, so it has been fun.
“It has been tough at times but I have definitely learned a lot, and for me, genuinely, I’ve really enjoyed simple living, just being at home and figuring out what’s important.”
The mum-of-one went on to add that it was a “conscious decision” to have Jack and Carl move in together, telling The Celeb Report: “If we didn’t move in together we would never have seen each other, and it’s a new relationship so you want to spend time together.
“But anyone who got into a relationship and took the very brave plunge of moving in together during lockdown… It accelerates your relationship.
“Definitely having Carl here relieved the pressure, and there was more people to bounce off and hang out with.”
Earlier today, a source told us: “Ferne has called time on her relationship with Jack Padgett.
“Ferne said it was a case of ‘right guy wrong time’. It was clear to all of us that they were both on different paths.”
Ferne and Jack’s romance was first revealed in December, when the pair were spotted kissing while on holiday in South Africa.
She revealed in February that he’d moved in with her alongside Carl – adding that he was “The One”.
Our insider added: “She has no regrets. They both got on great and had a lot of fun, but you need more than that in a relationship.”
We spoke to Ferne from her sun-soaked garden in Brentwood, Essex, where she lives with three-year-old daughter Sunday – and she beamed with pride as she told us that she had turned their home into her “little safe haven”.
And speaking as part of Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon Staycation campaign, the former Towie favourite admitted that she isn’t worried about getting abroad for a holiday this year amid the ever-changing travel rules.
She explained: “My home really does feel like my little safe haven and while obviously it’s not a holiday, I love being here.
“Round the back looks onto the field and it has two olive trees, and a hot tub. On a really sunny day it’s so nice to just enjoy the view and you feel like you can be abroad.”
Ferne went on: “I’ve got very used to being at home, and I love being at home as well. There’s not pressure to go away and book a holiday abroad; I just really love doing BBQs, inviting friends over, and exploring the country so I am here for Staycations.
“I think this summer a lot of people will be doing that and Gordon’s is bringing the taste of those summer vacays that we can’t quite get to, and a taste of the Med here in the UK.
“A gin and tonic is my drink of choice and the Sicilian lemon flavour is a real twist to such a classic – it’s so delicious and when you’re sipping on one you could be in the Med!”
- Gordon’s is bringing a slice of Sicily to the UK to help Brits enjoy the “taste” of summer with their new Sicilian Lemon flavour.
