An Unexpected Intervention
First Dates star Fred Siriex has revealed an awkward moment when he was forced to step in and axe filming during the hit dating show. The TV personality, who has been the maître d'hôtel at the restaurant since the show's inception in 2013, recently spoke about a memorable behind-the-scenes scenario that was never shown on camera.
A Drunk Date
Siriex appeared on the Saving Grace Podcast where he shared the details of the incident for the first time. The host asked him about how much contributors are allowed to drink on First Dates, to which he surprisingly replied, "As much as they want." He then recounted the story of a girl who came in during the first series and was already dancing at the bar before even asking for her first drink.
A Responsibility to Protect
Siriex explained that he feels a responsibility to ensure the welfare of the show's customers and has no qualms about intervening when necessary. He shared: "She was so drunk, I just stopped the date because we have a responsibility as a restaurant to make sure that we look after people."
Rare Occurrences
The expert went on to clarify that such incidents are rare and do not happen frequently on the show. He stated: "From time to time, you get somebody who gets a bit drunk or a bit tipsy. I think a drink is for a social drink, for Dutch courage or full enjoyment."
Throughout the years, Siriex has been a vital part of First Dates, ensuring that the restaurant offers a unique and memorable experience for its guests.
