It was then revealed that Robyn was driving and appeared to be badly injured

Robyn had just clocked off from the last ever shift at the hospital ahead of a move to Wigan with her partner Paul and daughter Charlotte.

But as her colleagues dealt with the fall out from a fairground accident, it meant no ambulances were available when it came through on the radio that there had been a car accident.

In a first look clip from this Saturday’s episode of Casualty, Robyn’s colleagues do eventually arrive to pull her out of the car and get her on a stretcher, but it remains to be seen if they ended up being too late to save her.

The short clip shows Robyn lying on a stretcher with her eyes closed as she’s then rushed into ED where her friends and colleagues rush to help.

The clip ends with Jacob looking on in horror as he realises who has been brought in, having clashed with Robyn on her last day.

Tensions had risen between Robyn and her boss after he asked her to stay late on her last shift.

After learning of the fairground accident, she agreed to help, befoe eventually heading off to go to her own leaving party, having worked at the hospital for a decade.

But Jacob interrupted the celebrations and called all her nurse friends back to work, prompting Robyn to finally stand up to him before wrapping up her miserable send off.

Her delayed departure and the circumstances under which she left will play on Jacob’s mind as Robyn battles for her life.

However viewers will have to wait and see if she pulls through and gets her happy ending or whether it all ends in the most tragic way.

Casualty airs Saturdays on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
