FOOTBALL fans all said the thing as they tuned in for today’s instalment of Football Focus – but are met with a VERY different show.
The BBC One programme was supposed to air this afternoon between 12pm and one o’clock.
Football fans all had the same complaint when Football Focus was pulled from our TV channels today
Bargain Hunt replaced Football Focus today on BBC One
It comes after the broadcaster suspended sports pundit Gary Lineker from his Match Of The Day hosting role.
Earlier this week former England footballing ace Gary sparked a major backlash when he attacked the government’s new immigration policy on Twitter.
He was asked to step down from his presenting roles for the Beeb, and other high-profile names within the BBC such as Alan Shearer, Ian Wright, Micah Richards, Mark Chapman and Jermain Jenas, all pulled out as a sign of support.
Football Focus host, Alex Scott, followed, meaning that the show was scrapped.
So instead of Football Focus, Bargain Hunt was put on our screens instead – and many took to Twitter to share how unimpressed they were with their choice of replacement.
One said on the social media platform: “There are loads of shows the BBC could show besides Bargain Hunt.”
“Thanks @BBC I really enjoy watching Bargain Hunt instead of Football Focus. You are a disgrace to freedom of speech,” another sarcastically added.
A third chimed in: “Bargain Hunt REALLY!!! BBC you messed up big time.”
However were over the moon with an extra hour of the reality game show.
One said: “Football Focus was pulled – an extra Bargain Hunt. Hurrah.”
Another tweeted: “Result : Football Focus replaced by #BargainHunt.”
Bargain Hunt has been on our screens 2000.
There have been 62 successful series over the past 23 years.
Football Focus has been presented by Alex Scott since 2021.
