
Some of the biggest stars of EastEnders had pop careers before they graced the screens of Walford. From a Eurovision snub to one-hit wonders, here are some of the surprising musical talents from the cast.
Martine McCutcheon
Tiffany Butcher actress Martine McCutcheon soared to fame in the music world with a number one single and a platinum album after leaving the soap to pursue her musical dreams. Her hit single "Perfect Moment" topped the charts in 1999, followed by other successful tracks from her albums.
Anita Dobson
Anita Dobson, known for her role as Angie Watts, the Queen Vic's iconic landlady, released a single based on the EastEnders theme tune in 1986. The song, "Anyone Can Fall in Love," reached number four in the charts and was produced by none other than Queen guitarist Brian May.
Sean Maguire
Sean Maguire, who played Aidan Brosnan in EastEnders, transitioned to a music career after leaving the show. He released three albums, with his biggest hit, "Good Day," reaching number 12 in the charts in May 1996.

Sid Owen
After captivating audiences as Ricky Butcher, Sid Owen tried his hand at pop music with a cover of Michael Jackson's song in 2000. The single reached No. 14 in the UK Singles Chart, but Sid's pop music career didn't quite pan out as expected.
John Altman
John Altman, famous for playing Nasty Nick Cotton, faked his own death on the show before pursuing music. He became the frontman of the band Heavy Metal Kids and released a song called "Uncontrollable" in 2010.
Sophie Lawrence
Sophie Lawrence, also known as Diane Butcher, collaborated with renowned pop writers and producers Stock Aitken and Waterman. Her cover of Donna Summer's "Love's Unkind" reached 21 in the UK singles chart, but she focused on her acting career thereafter.
Michelle Gayle
Michelle Gayle, who played Hattie Tavernier, had a successful pop and R&B career with seven Top 40 UK singles. Despite signing with RCA Records and releasing hit singles, Michelle's Eurovision entry in 2008 ended in disappointment as she finished second in the public vote.
