Rebecca Jones Shares Insights Into Her Career Transition

Rebecca Jones, a well-known face of BBC News, recently revealed the reasons behind her decision to step away from television fame and pursue a new career path. After covering significant historical events, including the war in Ukraine and the London Bridge terror attack, Jones spent 28 years working for the broadcaster before leaving her role in August 2023.

Her departure came following a health scare in 2021, which led her to reevaluate her priorities and seek a less high-pressured profession. Jones, who was hospitalized due to burnout, realized the importance of prioritizing her well-being and happiness over her career.

After spending time reflecting on her choices, Jones discovered Barrecore, a workout combining ballet, pilates, and yoga, which played a significant role in maintaining her mental and physical well-being during her time in the newsroom. Encouraged by her husband, she made the bold decision to become a Barrecore instructor, despite initial concerns about a potential pay cut.

Now 58, Jones teaches close to 14 classes per week and has experienced a marked improvement in her health and overall quality of life. She no longer feels beholden to the demands of a news desk and enjoys the freedom of being in control of her schedule.

Hollywood Connection: Tom Hanks' Advice

Interestingly, one of the key figures who supported Jones during this career transition was Hollywood actor Tom Hanks. Their relationship began when Jones interviewed Hanks for the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, and she later confided in him about her decision to leave the BBC. Hanks, who hosted his book launch at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool, encouraged Jones on her new journey, emphasizing her evolution as a "creature of a renaissance."
