Stu Carpenter's Worries About Dom's Intentions with Eliza
Stu Carpenter, the former homeless man who has been taking care of his granddaughter Eliza Woodrow, finds himself in a terrifying situation in Coronation Street. Stu has been concerned about Eliza's bond with her absent father, Dom, and those worries escalate when Eliza fails to show up to school.
Devastation Leads to a Tragic Accident
After Eliza is stood up by Dom yet again, Stu suggests they visit Eliza's mother, Bridget, in an attempt to lift her spirits. However, Eliza is uninterested and runs across the road in her distress, resulting in a car accident. Stu rushes to Eliza's side, but the driver speeds away.
Trouble at the Hospital
In the hospital, Stu is forced to call Dom, who arrives with a teddy bear to try and earn Eliza's forgiveness. However, tensions rise between Stu and Dom, leading Eliza to ask her grandfather to leave. Alya Nazir assures Stu that Eliza will eventually see the truth about her father, but Stu is heartbroken when Eliza announces her desire to live with Dom.
Escalating Conflict
Stu's concerns deepen when he discovers that Eliza failed to show up to school once again. Accusing Dom of kidnapping Eliza, Stu finds himself in a heated confrontation. A social worker and a police officer are called to intervene, and they decide that it's best for Eliza to stay with Dom for the time being. Stu's frustration boils over, resulting in his arrest for assault.
