They took particular offence by Rob’s comments

Hosts Charlotte and Donna pulled out all the stops to ensure their guests had a pleasant stay and initially, things started out well, with their competitors all being impressed by the rooms.

When reading the feedback from their guests as is standard in each episode, Charlotte and Donna were pleased with the comments from Jana and Emily.

Their only criticism was an eco conscious one, requesting that the owners avoid using as much plastic in the breakfast baskets on offer.

The hosts were thrilled when they read that the two ladies would return to stay at The Inn again.

However, when it came to the other competing pair, Karlie and Rob, things had a rather different conclusion.

They complained about being tired the next morning after a bad night’s sleep. Karlie wrote: “Didn’t have the best sleep, [a] dull humming sound kept me awake, possibly the boiler next door. Bed was comfy though.”

Charlotte explained that there wasn’t much they were able to do about the noise, saying: “That is fair about the humming, it’s the fan in the pub. We’ve had that comment before, unfortunately, it is beyond our control. Would she stay again? No…”

In a pragmatic state of mind, Charlotte appreciated the scoring saying: “That’s a real shame, if she has had a bad night I will take that on the chin and that’s fair.”

However, Rob’s review is where things took a different turn. He praised the comfort of the pillows and mattress, but then went on to complain about the curtains.

He wrote: “[The] light outside disturbs sleep due to ill-fitting curtains [and] loud constant buzzing noise.” He then scored them 4 out of a possible 10.

Charlotte didn’t hide her upset and expressed: “Again, it’s that fan. They have given us a four but we provide eye masks and ear plugs so why did they not put them on?

“That’s really unfair and that’s not justified…That is a real shame, we’re just a budget-friendly hotel but I am gutted.”

On Twitter the majority of viewers agreed with Rob saying: “Exactly, some noises do still get through! A humming noise would drive me mad. #fourinabed.”

Another agreed: “She didn’t get it, did she? Earplugs and eye masks should be a personal choice not a necessity for a good night’s sleep #fourinabed.”

One commented: “If I have to wear an eye mask and ear plugs, I don’t want to stay at your establishment. It’s as simple as that. #FourInABed.”

Four in a Bed airs weekdays from 5pm on Channel 4.
