The 34-year-old was forced to call a locksmith as they all waited in the car and were forced to push back all their festive celebrations.
Frankie Essex managed to lock herself out on Christmas Day
Frankie feared it had ruined the magical day
Frankie told OK! Magazine: “Everything was going well on Christmas Day until we left the house.
“I was looking for my keys everywhere to lock up before realising they were on the other side of the door.”
“I had to call a locksmith over to get the door open – £156 later we got in, which meant we were an hour late to everything – Luke’s parents and then my dad’s for dinner.”
The star added: “My anxiety was through the roof that day, I felt like I’d ruined our special day.”
Frankie went on to say she grew emotional later that day when she realised it was the twins’ first Christmas and her mum wasn’t there to enjoy it.
Tina died in 2001 after a long battle with depression when Frankie was just 13 and her brother Joey was 10.
Frankie and partner Luke welcomed twins Logan and Luella in June of this year.
The former Towie star previously opened up about how much she missed having her mum around now she is a mother herself.
She shared: “Now I realise, when people have their mums around and they help, what a dream that would be, especially when I’m worrying about what could go wrong with the babies.
“But Mum is here in spirit. My family and friends always tell me I don’t need to worry because she’s looking down on me, and I know she is. We’re so blessed, honestly. I believe that the twins were sent to us.”
