THE Apprentice viewers were up in arms tonight as Lord Sugar fired the first candidate of the new series.
Emma Browne was the unlucky woman to be sent home after the girls were soundly beaten in the first challenge: selling cultural tours in Antigua.
Lord Sugar fired the wrong candidate, according to Apprentice viewers
Emma Browne was sent home
Viewers felt she was harshly treated by her teammates and even thrown under the bus in the boardroom, with many claiming Marnie Swindells should have been axed.
One wrote on Twitter: “Oh come on Emma didn’t deserve to go.. Marnie ya sly one!”
Another posted: “Never in a million years should Emma have went.”
A third said: “Emma getting fired is the biggest BS decision Lord Sugar has ever made.”
A fourth complained: “Justice for Emma! Marnie should absolutely have gone.”
Meanwhile the boys, led by Joe Phillips, got to enjoy cocktails as they retired to the £17million mansion they will call home for the duration of the show.
Everyone watching at home agreed the Caribbean scenery was breathtaking in the first episode, but they questioned the need for putting all 18 candidates on a long haul flight during a cost of living crisis.
Others were baffled why the candidates were still in their suits and officewear on the beach in the baking sunshine
The girls and boys faced off on the island, flogging very different cultural tours.
It wasn’t long before the girls found themselves in a spot of bother as they tried to sell pricey catamaran excursions on deserted beaches.
Cue lots of bickering and blaming of each other over the poor choice of location.
After her exit, Emma said: “I got the most sales. I was accurate in saying the beach wasn’t a good location.
“I brought a lot of energy to the girls’ team, which I think was seen as well and highlighted.
“I am a very positive person, and I remained positive throughout.”
Browne also said there were “clashes” on the show but “no hard feelings”.
She added: “I’m not going to be a sore loser. I put myself forward and someone had to go. I’m not painful about it.
“I spent so much time doing a business plan that I probably wouldn’t have spent as much time doing if it wasn’t for The Apprentice.”
