FURIOUS fans of The Undeclared War have slammed the show’s shock cliffhanger finale as a “waste of time” and “boring”.
The Channel 4 show came to a dramatic end on Thursday night, as viewers were left on the edge of their seats as a final scene stopped in the middle of the drama.
The finale of the show saw a cliffhanger ending
Fans were furious and called the episode “boring”
The final episode of The Undeclared War saw young Russian hacker Vadim, played by actor German Segal, sending protagonist Saara, played by Hannah Khalique-Brown, a file of Russian secrets.
Finally GCHQ were back in the game, as they had their hands on the chip to bargain with the Americans and strike a deal.
A final shot saw Saara sobbing as she watched Vadim dangerously share information behind the backs of the Russians.
The scene faded to black in the middle of the action, meaning fans will have to wait until season two to find out what happens.
Fans were left confused and furious at the cliffhanger ending, and took to Twitter to slam the decision, calling it a “waste of time”.
“Awful, Channel 4 needs to ask the production company to hand over the real last episode,” one wrote. “Utter b******s and waste of time.”
“The Undeclared War has sauntered towards a dull conclusion, what a boring drama it has been,” a second chimed in.
“All the unanswered questions will be in season two,” a third wrote, as a fourth concluded: “Gosh, does that mean it’s still going?”
It comes after viewers of the Channel 4 show ripped into the “dire” premiere, as they switched off the drama after one episode.
The six-part series, created by seven-time BAFTA winner Peter Kosminsky, was marketed as a 21st century thriller.
The setting was April 2024, when Saara joins Government Communications Headquarters, commonly known as GCHQ, on the very day that Britain comes under cyber attack.
Malware in BT Openreach, which provides the infrastructure for most of the internet, knocks out all rail signals, online banking and ATMs.
Cunningly, it leaves social media intact so that bots can spread populist discontent by blaming the government.
WHAT THE QUACK
I got 0.5mm of lip filler but regret it so much, I look like a duck
Thankfully, it’s fictional, with the likes of Mark Rylance, Adrian Lester and Simon Pegg fronting Channel 4’s TV series.
However, those watching the series were soon left switching off just minutes into the first episode as dozens branded it “unwatchable”.
