GAME of Thrones has posted the first official pictures of spin-off series House of the Dragon.
The prequel series, which is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, started filming in Cornwall last month.
Now, the first official pictures have been released of some of the cast members, including The Crown’s Matt Smith and Truth Seekers star Emma D’Arcy.
Matt, 38, plays Prince Daemon Targaryen, King Viserys Targaryen’s younger brother, meanwhile Emma, 28, will play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the King’s daughter.
Their first photo together appears to show them having a tense conversation on a beach, both sporting the white blonde hair made famous be Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen in the original series.
Another shot showed Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King and close counsellor of King Viserys, alongside Olivia Cooke who plays Otto’s daughter, Alicent Hightower.
The final picture showed actor Steve Toussaint as legendary seafarer The Sea Snake, Lord Corlys Velaryon.
The cast also includes Paddy Considine as King Viserys, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon and Crazy Rich Asians’ Sonoya Mizuno as Daemon’s ally Mysaria.
The first details to be revealed about the plot of House of the Dragon suggest it will explore how the House begins to fall apart and the Dance of the Dragons civil war begins.
How King’s Landing was built is also set to be revealed, as is the origin stories of some of the other iconic Houses seen in the original HBO series.
The prequel series was first announced back in October 2019, soon after HBO scrapped its other GoT series, Bloodmoon.
Like Game of Thrones, it will air on HBO in the US, and it has now been confirmed UK viewers will be able to watch it on Sky Atlantic.
This also means NOW subscribers will also be able to watch the series when it premieres next year.
