FANS of Gavin & Stacey can rejoice as Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon are set to reunite for a new BBC comedy.
Created and written by Ruth Jones and David Peet and made by Tidy Productions, Gaynor & Ray will see the real-life friends back on our screens.
The show follows Gaynor and Ray Davies from Cardiff; two fifty-something newlyweds, both married for a second time.
Gaynor’s first marriage ended when she discovered her husband was unfaithful multiple times.
Meanwhile, Ray’s first marriage ended because he was “impossible to live with” – or so his ex-wife often tells him.
But in a heartwarming twist, the stars align and Ray and Gaynor decide to give marriage another go – this time with each other.
The 35 minute special will join Ray and Gaynor on their honeymoon to the Scottish Highlands where they meet a variety of characters and situations.
Having only met six months prior to their honeymoon, there’s still plenty of things they are yet to discover about one another.
Unsurprisingly, that leaves them questioning whether or not they’ve done the right thing by tying the knot.
Writer-creators David Peet and Ruth Jones explained: “We’re delighted to watch Gaynor & Ray come to life on screen.
“Through them we get to see the male and female take on life and relationships as well as the nonsense in the day-to-day.”
Gaynor & Ray is sure to be a big hit with Gavin & Stacey fans, who have been pining for more episodes after the last episode hit our screens on Christmas Day 2019.
The BBC show featuring Matt Horne and James Corden follows the long-distance relationship struggles of the title characters as they try to make it work between Essex and Wales’ Barry Island.
Iconic characters Nessa Jenkins, played by Ruth, and Bryn West, played by Rob, became a bit hit with fans thanks, in part, to their cheeky catchphrases.
