PAUL Gascoigne has revealed his hopes to sign up to I’m a Celebrity line-up after starring in the Italian version of the ITV show – despite his dramatic weight loss.
Gazza, 54, shed a stone and a half while camping in Honduras, but he said it did him the world of good.
The ex-England and Spurs midfielder said after returning home: “I’m really feeling good. It was very tough, but it was good for me and I’m glad I did it.
“Now I want to do the Australian one!”
He added to the Mirror: “So, it was in Honduras and the first few days were really tough, but then you get used to it.
“It was hard – no cigarettes, no coffee, no food. It was a challenge for all of us. We had to hunt for our own food – though it felt like there was no food to hunt!
“You were given a little fishing line and I caught a barracuda, so that was OK …
“I’ve been in a jungle for 12 weeks and eating eff all! I lost a stone and a half. I’m trying to put it back on. I’ve been eating like a pig!”
Gascoigne was forced to quit the Italian reality show after dislocating his shoulder in a spaghetti and meatballs challenge just days after arriving.
But he bravely returned to the delight of Italian viewers and told The Celeb Report last month:”I did five weeks on the Italian island so I can do three weeks with Ant and Dec in the jungle. Bring it on!”
We exclusively revealed in February he had passed a series of tough physical and mental tests to get accepted on the show which is filmed on the Honduras island of Cayos Cochinos.
In the show, camp mates spent ten weeks on a desert island living off coconuts and 50g of rice a day plus any fish they caught or food they won in challenges.
